Using library and internet resources students will research and create ENERGY and NEWTON's 3 LAWS OF MOTION Foldables* and paste them into a workbook.
Students will explore energy transformations and Newton's Laws by constructing and racing BALLOON POWERED RACING CARS. You will find a general

General Equipment required for the Balloon Powered Cars:
Wooden BBQ skewers
Plastic bottle caps/ lids (for wheels)
Plastic straws (straight & bendable)
Masking/sticky tape
Rubber bands
Blutac
Old CDs
Balloons
Empty plastic bottles
Empty cardboard containers (eg. tissue, cereal, biscuit box)
Hammer and nails (for making holes in lids)
Craft supplies such as tissue paper, cellophane, construction paper, google eyes etc.
Decide on rules before the Balloon Car Competition, we suggest:
No more than 2 balloons to power a car
The car must have at least 3 wheels
Each car will have a maximum of 3 tries
Distance travelled 2-5 metres
Category winners will include farthest distance/ and longest running time, with special mention for most creative
Students will need measuring tape, stop watch, and scales to weigh their cars.
